New Features Added to WorldCat Discovery

By Africa S. Hands

From OCLC:

New features added in August 2015:

  • Availability on brief results
All libraries that have added the availability option to their WorldCat Discovery subscription now see real-time availability and item location information on brief results. This means users know immediately whether an item is available locallyand where they can find it on library shelves.
  • Editions and formats on brief results
WorldCat Discovery brief results now show a prominent “Other editions and formats” link on relevant titles. This new link gives users an immediate visual prompt to know other editions exist and could potentially meet their needs, without needing to click the title for more details.
  • Get It Now functionality
Now libraries that subscribe to the Get It Now service can provide access to full-text articles in journals not available in their local collections through WorldCat Discovery. This gives users fast, easy access to articles not available to them locally, through the integrated link resolver functionality in WorldCat Discovery.
