Wireframes are inescapable for information architects but they can be a useful tool for anyone who needs to communicate how they want a system to work. Everyone has their own approach but they are increasingly sketched rather than meticulously created with computer graphics programs.

Wireframes Magazine is part blog, part magazine, and full of real examples. Blogger and information architect, Jakub Linowski introduces his website and the concept behind it:

"We all run into similar problems while trying to convey our thought processes and design ideas visually. This place then aims to be an outlet for those people willing to share their work samples which highlight techniques to the common problems we as design communicators experience."

The examples include some produced by wireframing tools like Balsamiq, Axure and MockupScreens. HTML prototyping examples are also included but there are plenty produced with pen and paper too.

Linowski comments on all the submissions. On a post about Page Level Wireflows he says:

"Tara has been designing the Mozilla Community Store and did a couple of wireflows at the page level. Having shrunk down the wireframes to thumbnails, this diagram provides a very nice overview of page-to-page link relationships that the user might take. nform Trading Cards, however, warn us that these documents could be very labour intensive if the design changes (which I also experienced). Now what if this view was automatically generated with our favourite design tools?"

This is a deeply, unashamedly, practical site. It aims to do one thing and one thing only. It is fairly unique in a blogging field that is mainly focused on strategy, trends and demonstrating the author's wide range of expertise. If you need to communicate design ideas then Linowski's site will show you tips and tricks to do it better.
