Online today is a new blog from the Open Book Alliance that we posted about the other day.
Microsoft Corp., Amazon.com Inc., Yahoo Inc., and a number of other library associations are joining a coalition being created by the Internet Archive to challenge Google Inc.’s settlement with authors and publishers, said Peter Brantley, the Internet Archive’s director.
The first post is signed by Peter Brantley and Gary Reback, an attorney. It’s titled, “Opening the Book.”
Highlights from the first blog post contains several extended bullet points including:
+ The settlement is bad for consumers and book-lovers
+ The settlement is bad for libraries and schools
+ The settlement is bad for authors and small publishers
+ The settlement sets a dangerous and unprecedented process precedent
