From the AScribe News Release:
Building on a partnership established two years ago, the Library of Congress and the Foundation Center have issued the second edition of “Foundation Grants for Preservation in Libraries, Archives, and Museums,” a web-based fundraising guide designed to help the preservation community ensure that the nation’s millions of at-risk historical and cultural artifacts in libraries, archives, and museums are saved for future generations. The new edition of the guide includes the most recent grants awarded in the field to help fundraisers identify critical sources of funding.
The two organizations teamed up to create the publication in partnership with the Heritage Preservation Foundation, a nonprofit organization serving libraries, archives, cultural organizations, and professional associations dedicated to preserving historical and cultural collections across the country. By means of the “Heritage Health Index,” the first comprehensive survey on the condition of all U.S. collections held in public trust, the Heritage Preservation Foundation identified two sets of critical needs: follow-up funding for southern cultural repositories devastated by Hurricane Katrina, and preservation needs nationwide for emergency planning, safe environmental and storage controls, training, and staffing.
