News about the social network never seems to stop–even on the weekend. Here are a few new stories:

+ Not Playing Ball
This Twitter blog posts talks about the Tony LaRussa (he’s the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team) law suit and goes on to discuss “verified” Twitter accounts, for certain individuals and groups, going live later this summer.

The experiment will begin with public officials, public agencies, famous artists, athletes, and other well known individuals at risk of impersonation. We hope to verify more accounts in the future but due to the resources required, verification will begin only with a small set.

+ Twitter’s Real Time Spam Problem (via Search Engine Land)
It’s good to see thought leaders like Danny Sullivan writing on what ResourceShelf believes is a growing issue for Twitter, spam.

And so real-time search begets real-time spam. We knew this would happen, but it’s annoying and becoming a growing problem. Question is, will Twitter do anything about it, beginning with removing its “Trends” feature?

A very interesting read about Twitter. It would be interesting to compare these Twitter numbers with similar types of research using other social networks.
