FU Library gets help in conserving the past
From the article:
Yesianne Ramirez is concerned that some of the items, particularly books, in the Finlandia University Maki Library are more than 100 years old and in fragile condition, so she welcomes any system that will help her preserve those items.
Ramirez, who is acting head librarian at Finlandia, said the Maki Library was one of 851 libraries and museums in the United States to receive a Conservation Bookshelf from the national Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) in Washington, D.C. The bookshelf, which arrived Monday, is actually several items including books, DVDs, online resources and a user’s guide which explain how to do conservation of items in a collection.
