BluePulse: Mobile + Social Networking
We thing mobile and social networking might just a useful “thing” (next “big thing,” perhaps) especially in education and libraries.
Bluepulse is a free mobile social messenger for you and your friends. You can message your friends from bluepulse using their email address, phone number, name or group name. You can receive all incoming messages and profile updates in 1 inbox. You can also build your profile and share pictures and videos with 1 friend or a whole group really easily. Get message alerts via email or SMS and expand your network by being introduced to your friends’ friends - all from your phone, all for free.
Bluepulse will of course work on your mobile device and automatically detect your mobile browser.
New and of possible iinterest to info pros and educators: Private Groups.
Send messages to a select group of people about a new book, new article, class project, etc. with a single post to those in the private group you’ve built. Something journalists might also find useful.
also, Public Groups:
These connect you with people who share similar interests. Just like a private group, once you’ve joined you’ll see any messages that get sent to
the group and you’ll be able to message everyone within that group. The difference with public groups is that anyone can join them and a friend can browse your public groups from your Pulse. Just make sure that if you start your own group you give it some good tags so people can find it and join the conversation.
