Field Artillery: Published from 1911 to 2007

From the first edition, January-March 1911 The Field Artillery Journal until the last edition, March-April 2007 Field Artillery, the magazine has been dedicated to the professional development of US Army Field Artillerymen, originally, and then, later, also US Marine Corps Field Artillerymen. It was published under the auspices of the US Army Field Artillery School and Center, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Since the January-February 1974 edition, the magazine has been bimonthly. From 1974 until mid-1987, the magazine was called Field Artillery Journal. Then from mid-1987 through the last edition in 2007, the magazine was called Field Artillery. As stated in the first edition in 1911, the purpose of the magazine was “to disseminate professional knowledge and furnish information as to the artillery’s progress, development and best use in campaign; to cultivate with the other arms a common understanding of the power and limitations of each; to foster a feeling of interdependency among the different arms and of hearty cooperation by all; and to promote understanding between the regular and militia forces by forging a close bond—all of which objects are worthy and contribute to the good of our country.”
