When sending mail or packages it’s crucial to have the correct address, postal/Zip Code, etc.
Here are three databases that might help. Of course, the caveat, that no dbase is always perfect.

1) MelissaData Address Verification (U.S. and Canada)
This tool, one of the many free lookup databases from MelissaData will not only confirm an address (U.S. only) but provide a long list of related data about that precise location. We noticed that you need to be as specific as possible. In other words, if it’s N. Maple St., make sure to include North in the address.

In some cases you’ll see a link that lists suite numbers (for example, in a building) or, in other cases, simply lists some or all of the buildings tenants.

+ Latitude/Longitude
+ Census Info
+ Delivery Post Office

+ Canadian Database
Not as much data but with direct links to Google and Yahoo maps.

MelissaData.com offers MANY Zip Code databases. For example, Zip Code demographics for a Zip in NYC. Here’s another dbase that lists of all street names in one Zip Code.

2) FedEx Address Checker
Enter as much data as possible to confirm address. If needed the address will be rewritten
and for U.S. addresses a Zip+4 is provided. This dbase works for:
+ U.S.
+ Canada
+ Puerto Rico
+ American Samoa
+ Federated States of Micronesia
+ Guam
+ Mashall Islands
+ Norther Mariana Islands
+ Palau
+ U.S. Virgin Islands

We tried several addresses that do not exist and this database confirmed. Search by:

+ Company
+ Find all Addresses in a City
