The Commission organised a seminar “European Digital Libraries Initiative: the Stakeholders’ Perspectives” on 14 September 2007.
The event gathered representatives of right-holders, cultural institutions, media, IT companies and other stakeholders. The seminar was organised in the context of the activities of the High Level Expert Group on Digital Libraries (HLEG).
The seminar discussed two main topics. First the orphan works (due diligence guidelines – general issues and sector specific experiences and needs) and second the out of print works (model license – proposal for adaptation to specific sectors and needs).
Representatives from libraries, archives, museums and government bodies presented what has been done by the cultural sector with respect to both orphan and out of print works. Through the event, the copyright subgroup of the HLEG presented its achievements hitherto with views from relevant stakeholders.
Seminar materials can be accessed here.
