Statehealthfacts.org Updates Information on Prescription Drugs, HMOs, and Women’s Health Topics
Statehealthfacts.org has updated data from Verispan on the total number of prescriptions filled and total sales at retail pharmacies in 2006, including per capita prescriptions filled by age and gender. Updated data on HMOs includes the total number of HMOs, HMO penetration rates, and total HMO enrollment as of July 2006 from HealthLeaders-InterStudy. Cervical cancer and breast cancer mortality data, plus data on births, including the percent distribution of births by mothers of Hispanic origin, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been updated to 2004. Reproductive and sexual health policy information from the Guttmacher Institute has been updated to August 2007 including: family planning services requirements under Medicaid; mandated coverage of contraceptives; a minor’s right to consent to testing and treatment for STDs; and state requirements for STD and HIV education.
