Leading European Map Provider, MultiMap, Chooses deCarta Technology
deCarta, today announced that Multimap, Europe’s number one online mapping and LBS provider, has deployed deCarta’s Drill Down Server geospatial platform technology in its most current suite of advanced mapping capabilities.
What else is new at MultiMap:
+ Draggable maps
+ Ordnance Survey (UK) maps on the new Multimap site
The new Multimap site now has draggable Ordnance Survey maps. We’ve made the maps available across Great Britain, at three different zoom levels: 13, 14, and 15. These maps come from OS 1:50,000 raster maps; the original site shows these maps at 1:25,000 scale.
More local information: if you look to the left of the map, you’ll see a panel called “useful information”. You can use this tool to view points of interest – such as cashpoints, petrol stations, hospitals, and Wi-Fi hotspots, on our maps. Click on the individual markers to see more detail about each point of interest.
Improved travel directions: we now offer you walking directions as well as driving directions; the ability to route between points of interest, as well as between addresses; and directions for even more countries. And we give separate maps for the start and end points, as well as for your full journey.
Add your own favourites! It’s no longer necessary to be signed up for MyMultimap to save up to three favourite routes or maps. (But if you do sign up, you can save up to 20 favourites, and see them on your mobile – see below.) Please see the “How do I add my favourites?” FAQ for more details.
Lots of new mobile features! Not only can you still push a map to your mobile phone – you can now use MyMultimap Mobile to see your favorites and search history, and find new maps, while on the move. Just register for MyMultimap, include your mobile number in the registration information, and you’re on your way.
