New Real Time Traffic Service for the UK: TrafficRadio.org.uk
Launched by transport minister Tom Harris on 26 July 2007, the service is available on digital radio and the internet. Drivers can use it to find out the latest traffic conditions on motorways and major A roads in England, emergency incidents and roadworks.
The 24 hour service is updated every 10 minutes at busy times and offers both regional traffic news and national headlines. There will also be short information bulletins to explain the Traffic Officer service, as well as provide safety advice and tips about planning journeys…Initially the service is being produced by traffic news broadcaster Trafficlink, which will compile information from the Highways Agency’s National Traffic Control Centre (NTCC). Such data includes real time information from 3,750 road sensors and 1,000 CCTV cameras
