How About a Search Engine for Misspelled Words in eBay Auctions? Domain Name Typos Too!

If that’s what you want, Branica’s got it.

Branica’s new misspelled eBay search engine service allows users to find misspelled eBay auctions of products they want. These auctions are harder to find so fewer bids are made and items are sold at cheaper prices. With the new Misspelled Auction Search service, users simply enter the correct spelling of a product that they want to buy, select the Get Misspellings checkbox, and click on the Submit Query button. The service will automatically bring up current eBay auctions with both the correct and incorrect spellings so that users can find the auction that is right for them.

Shirl says…this is apparently a full-blown cottage industry:

Via LifeHacker, there’s eBay Auctions Misspelled Search. Lifehacker also posted an article on how to save money by looking for spelling mistakes on eBay.

From the UK, there’s Typozay.

Floodle offers a dropdown menu so you can search for mispellings on eBay in different countries. e Boo Boos also lets you choose which version of eBay to search. BargainChecker.com lets you search for misspellings on the English language eBays (US/UK/CA/AU).

Also…Fat Fingers. (”Other people’s typos save you money.”)

Misspellr.com helps you find typos/mispellings on Craigslist (choose your local version) and eBid.net as well as eBay.

And if you’re really into this, why not download and install Goofbay Toolbar 1.0? “Every day 1000’s of items are listed on eBay with miss-spelled (sic) or badly written titles. The Goofbay toolbar searches and lists these hidden bargains.” I haven’t tried it, but it’s free and apparently works on different operating systems.

What makes it even cooler is you can narrow your search by a reason for the typo:

+ Letter Swap
+ Sticky Keys
+ Look Alikes
