Two databases from the European Space Agency:
1) The Multimedia Gallery contains over 5000 items and can be browsed by topic or searched by keyword. For example, several images and a video or two from the pollution category
2) The ESA Earth Image Gallery
An interactive globe to find images by keyword. Here are a few images from satellites over Venice, Italy.
Of course, over the years we’ve posted many links to various imagery and multimedia databases from NASA like the NASA Image Exchange, Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth, Visible Earth (a favorite), GRIN, and the always interesting “Image of the Day” collection from the NASA Earth Observatory.
For example, here’s a satellite view of the wildfires currently taking place in the Western United States. For more near real-time imagery from NASA, check the MODIS Rapid Response team web site.
