Survey Results: LexisNexis Releases Study on Info Pro Use of Web 2.0
The study shows info pros love blogs and wikis but not that info podcasting. Perhaps that will change once podcasting becomes what we and others have called “cellcasting” or”mobilcasting.”
A couple of other comments:
1) We did not find in the methodology what the survey used as a definition of Web 2.0? Is blogging a 2.0 activity? RSS? The bottom line is that 2.0 is many things to many people but some type of base definition would have been useful.
2) What is the long term viability of many 2.0 companies. Sure, a few will be snapped up by the major players but what about others? Can they survive by themselves? Will people be willing to pay for these services? What is their business model if they are not bought by a major company? Can some companies survive solely on ads? What 2.0 services would you be willing to pay for? The first one that comes to our minds is Zoho. With the amount of quality tools they offer, quality of customer care, and as time moves forward how each tool operates with others, Zoho is something we would pay for. The good news is that right now almost all of Zoho’s services are free!!!
