Word from information industry legend, prolific and thought provoking writer/editor, and ResourceShelf friend, Walt Crawford, that he’s looking for a new job when he leaves RLG/OCLC at the end of September, 2007.

In a blog post, Crawford writes:

The RLG-OCLC transition will be complete in September. I’ve received a termination notice from OCLC, effective September 30, 2007.

Walt goes on to link to this impressive list of his 15 books and adds that he’s written and published more than than 400 (wow!) articles. Of course, Mr. C also writes and publishes Cites and Insights each month and his Walt at Random blog.

His post continues with some ideas of the type of work he is looking for.

Walt Crawford has been a library thinker for many years — long before self-publishing, blogs, etc. His reputation and work speaks for itself.

We can also add that Walt has been a supporter of our work at ResourceShelf and DocuTicker and someone whose opinions we might not always agree with but totally respect. In other words, he frequently makes us question what we think we believe. That’s so important and valuable. He has also been a role model for us in sharing an opinion or two even though they do not go along with the masses. Thanks, Walt!

We feel confident that more than one library/information businesses/organizations will be flooding Crawford’s in-box and voicemail with many offers.
