The Lyell Collection , created to mark the Geological Society of London’s 200th anniversary in 2007, represents one of the largest integrated collections of online Earth science literature available. Bringing together Journal of the Geological Society, Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology, Special Publications and key book series on a single electronic platform, the Lyell Collection is a unique resource for researcher and student alike.

From a news release:

A subscription will be required for full access from 18th June, but many aspects of the service will remain entirely free for public use – including sophisticated search functionality, access to summaries and abstracts, and email alerts about new content as it is added to the Collection. This is clearly an invaluable resource for anyone working in the geosciences today, but also for members of the public and enthusiastic amateurs who since the earliest days of the Society have been attracted to reading about, and contributing to, the study of the Earth.
