Microsoft & Yahoo Said To Be Talking Merger, Cooperation
Danny Sullivan has the latest about two reports (WSJ and NY Post) about Microsoft and Yahoo in talks to merge or as Danny puts it, cooperate. If this idea (MS and Yahoo) sound familiar, it should. About a year ago there were rumors of a possible hook-up.
Two notes.
1) At the end of 2006, Merrill Lynch started talking about a Yahoo-AOL partnership.
2) Yahoo and Microsoft already have a partnership that allows for interoperability of their IM services.

UPDATE: Reuters reports that talks between MS and YHOO are no longer active.

Dow Jones being approached by News Corp. with a takeover bid. It was rejected. Today, we see reports about Reuters being approached by Thomson about a takeover. No offer has been made. We also know that Thomson wants to get rid of Thomson Gale and Thomson Learning.
