We first mentioned mPire, a shopping engine, last year when they announced a deal with eBay. mPire allows you to run a metasearch of:
+ eBay
+ Amazon
+ Overstock
+ Yahoo
+ Shopping.com
+ Craigslist
However, that’s not all. In addition to search results, you’re given a bunch of historical pricing info. Here’s an an example of a results page. Note the historical pricing graph also available here for a specific product.
Btw, suggested products or product categories appear before you click the search button. This type-ahead feature is similar to WikiWax, Pinpoint Shopping, AskX, and other products.
Finally, a plug-in for mPire offers more including alerts, coupons, and more.
These days, mPire Labs is offering a bunch of prototypes including ShopWave, a visual shopping engine. For more on content-based image retrieval, see this post (2nd item).
