Tools to Combine Multiple RSS Feeds into a Single Feed

Since Yahoo announced the Yahoo Pipes service yesterday, we received a couple of notes asking us if we knew of any other tools, a bit more “non-tech geek” friendly, that would allow the user to combine multiple RSS feeds into a single feed. This is one of the many features that Yahoo Pipes offers users.

Good news, there are several options to merge RSS feeds together that are a bit easier for the non-developer geek to use. This list offers links to several of these tools. Some are fee-based clients (although many offer free trials) while others are free (or donationware) web-based resources.

We tried several tools and were pleased to find Feedblendr. Very easy to use.

Here’s (a combined feed) using five RSS feeds:
+ A Yahoo News Keyword Search for the Word “iPod.”
+ Search Engine Roundtable RSS Feed.
+ An Ask.com News Feed for Business news.
+ A Real-Time Traffic Feed for metro New York.
+ A Real-Time Weather Conditions feed for Anchorage, AK.

You can also import an OPML list and quickly combine each feed into a single feed.

Another free service (it seems to be down at the moment), Bloggdigger Groups allows you to combine feeds and also make them keyword searchable. Of course, the content that’s actually searchable is determined by what the publisher decides to syndicate. Groups can be marked private or public.

Other web-based services we tried (and worth a look) were:
+ RSS Mix and FeedCOMBINE. More on these services in the near future.

FeedForAll and FeedMix look like worthy clients if that’s what you’re in need of.

Now, for those who are really adventurous, use some of the tools from xFruits to make your feed mobile friendly or available on a web page.
