As part of its strategic plan, the Joint Steering Committee for Revision of AACR (JSC) is working towards a new standard: RDA: Resource Description and Access, scheduled for release in early 2009….Underlying RDA are the conceptual models FRBR (Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records) and FRAD (Functional Requirements for Authority Data). FRBR is the basis for Part A (Description) of RDA, and FRAD is the basis for Part B (Access Point Control). A scope document has been developed which defines the scope and structure of RDA in relation to the conceptual models on which it is based, and in relation to models developed by other metadata initiatives. The document also clarifies a number of issues relating to scope and structure that were raised in the constituency responses to the partial drafts of RDA that have been distributed for comment since December 2005.
