Used to be in the not-so-distant past that when you went on a trek to climb a high peak, no one knew if you were successful until you returned (or didn’t) to civilization. But high-end technology has made it possible for trekkers to detail every aspect of their adventure, which, as Linnea Christiani, Everest conqueror, relays, has its, ahem, high and low points.
