Milestones: Stanford’s HighWire Press Passes 1.5 Million Free Full Text Articles in Database
UPDATE from Thursday Afternoon: From the not a big deal, they’re still very close category. The page we used for the 1.5 million total listed above came from this page (screen cap from Wednesday) that total has reverted back to 1.498 million. HOWEVER, the total listed (Thursday, Noon, EST) on the HighWire homepage continues to read 1,500,021 free full text articles. Btw, here’s a screen cap from Noon, Thursday of the HighWire Press homepage.
UPDATE from Friday, Noon: Now the home page total is back to just below 1.5 million at 1.498 million. Isn’t accounting fun. ![]()
UPDATE from Friday, 6pm, EST; OK, one final time, the total is once again past the 1.5 million mark. In fact, it has grown. The new free full text article total on Highwire is 1,529,612.
Whatever the case may be, congrats to the HighWire team on passing (or soon passing) the 1.5 million free article mark.
Btw, in addition to the approx 1.5 free full text articles, the HighWire database contains about 3.95 million articles overall.
