Btw, this is NOT the first time Yahoo has tried its hand in the enterprise search space.
Two years ago (almost to the day), Yahoo and Verity (now part of Autonomy) teamed up and released Verity Enterprise Web Search that combined internal document search with Yahoo search results. In this case, the revenue stream came from sponsored listings appearing on results pages. Here’s the official news release from December 16, 2004.
Earlier this year, X1 the provider of the technology that powers Yahoo Desktop Search, released a bundled Yahoo Toolbar with the enterprise version of X1. Here’s the news release.
