Three out of four connections to the Internet are now via broadband. In September 2006, broadband connections accounted for 75.2 per cent of all Internet connections, up from 72.6 per cent in June 2006. This is according to the latest update to the survey of Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The index of all connections rose to 109.5 in September 2006, compared to the base month of 100 in March 2005. The index increased by 0.8 per cent between June 2006 and September 2006. Dial-up connections continued to decline and accounted for 24.8 per cent of all Internet connections in September 2006.
