Yahoo Inc.’s competitive chops are being questioned from within, according to a memo penned by a senior vice president that reportedly claims the company has spread itself too thin for its own good, and calls for a major reorganization and a sizable staff reduction.
The four-page manifesto, dubbed “The Peanut Butter Manifesto”, was authored by Yahoo Senior Vice President Brad Garlinghouse, a well-respected executive who oversees Yahoo Mail, the world’s most popular Web-based free e-mail, Yahoo.com, the world’s most popular Web site and other major Yahoo products.

The Journal said the memo has received support from Yahoo senior management and that Garlinghouse had been asked to head an internal committee to investigate the issues he raises.
