One of the hardest working people we know (and a heck of a writer) Greg Sterling is launching a new virtual earth product in the next few hours. The post is titled, “Windows Live Local Gets ‘Virtual Earth’ 3-D Cities” and talks about some new 3D imagery from the team in Redmond. Of course, MS Live Local already offers the wonderful bird’s eye area imagery of many major cities and now a result page includes an option to see the location in 3D. To get the 3D imagery you do need to install this beta and it will only work on IE 6 or 7. SEW has lots of screen caps.

Btw, don’t forget that SkylineGlobe just released (easy set-up for most browsers) a plug-in app for most browsers with (at this point) only U.S. imagery. What you can add to the imagery is amazing.
