The Breeding Library Automation History Chart
An essential resource for anyone interested in the topic offering a graphical look at ”the history of mergers and acquisitions in the library automation industry.” Fascinating on many levels not only from the library automation angle but also the library business side. It’s a small part of Marshall Breeding’s essential Library Technology Guides site. This is also the site that’s home to the lib-web-cats database.

We’ve mentioned Breeding’s essential work many times on RS including in this Resource of the Week posting that Shirl wrote earlier this year.

Btw, if you dont’t already know, Marshall Breeding is also the creator of a library resource not only of essential research value today but one that will perhaps be even more important as each year passes, the Vanderbilt TV News Archive. It’s not too hard to envision that 100 years from now this database and the material it contains will be one that will be utilized in almost every area of historical research.
