Databases: New Web-based Tools for Tracking Government Spending and Congressional Accountability

From the news release:

For the first time, digitized personal financial disclosure forms filed by members of Congress and the executive branch will be available to the public on the Center for Responsive Politics’s OpenSecrets.org. The Center will also unveil a second database containing information on junkets taken by Congress members and their staffs but paid for by private interests.

OMB Watch will launch FedSpending.org, which will provide citizens with a detailed look at how the government spends their money. Itemized information on the more than $12 trillion that the federal government has disbursed between 2000 and 2005 will be available to the public on a user-friendly, searchable Web site.
