The new domain names keep pouring out of the Googleplex and this time they all use the word “mashups.” Not for maps or another Google service but search.

Like we always do, we’ll set aside some space for domain name forecaster Garett Rogers to share some thoughts but it looks like mashups are central to what Google is or might be planning. A mashup contest? A create your own type of search tool similar to what MSN Live offers with Search Macros or Yahoo’s recently launched with Yahoo Search Builder?

Nevertheless, the domains listed below might be more clues to a personalized, create your own service similar to what ResourceShelf considers the the best of class, Dave Pell’s very useful and easy to use (key with a service like this), Rollyo.

Garett already noted that Google’s new IndexBench.com domains and trademark application might have something to do with a “build your own type” of service. We tend to respectfully disagree (Rogers rocks!) thinking that IndexBench might be more webmaster related. Who knows?

Remember, just because a company registers a domain doesn’t mean that some type of new service is in the works and/or coming soon. In other words, Google might just want:

A) to have the name registered in their name so they don’t have to worry about getting it back later.
B) to keep people talking and guessing. Something Google is very good at.
