1) Advanced Search Interface
From bedrooms and bathrooms to lot size and more.
2) Zillow’s Database is Now Open
…allows homeowners to save and publish personal additions and edits to Zillow’s data on their homes. Homeowners can now add remodel information, update or change facts (like beds/baths, square footage, etc), or add more specific stuff like a waterfront view, finished basement, or type of parking.
No info (at least on the blog post we linked to) on how data is confirmed. From the way it reads, user info is placed next to public record data that Zillow uses. UPDATE: Users need to confirm their ownership of a property from a randomly generated list of names. If the name is not listed, a credit card must be used to confirm address. I’m sure it would be easy to start adding stuff for people if you know where they live and whose name the ownership is in. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to watch if this is “gamed” in one form or another. Like they sort of say in a Field of Dreams, “If they build it, someone will game it.”
That out of the way, Zillow has taken the time to write and post an honesty policy.
