Highlights of new Freedom of Information releases in September 2006
This latest release of files from the Security Service covers a variety of subjects including: Sylvia Townsend-Warner (and her partner Valentine Ackland) who raised suspicion through their interest in Communism (KV 2/2337 – 2338), renowned strategist on tank-warfare Basil Liddell-Hart whose ideas were used by German commanders during the Second World War (KV 2/2410 – 2411), Polish leader General Sikorski (KV 3/274 – 276) and some of the plain language codes used by German and other enemy agents, including the Westerlinck or ‘eins, eins, eins’ code (KV 2/2424).
Many of the documents listed in this release are available for download at no charge.
