Briefly: Rutgers University Sues GM over OnStar’s Audio Access to Info Technology

+ Earlier this week we posted a bit on voice/speech audio access technologies. We’ve since noticed that on the IPBiz Blog (more) and an AP story that Rutgers University is suing General Motors over the technology used with their OnStar system. Here’s the patent and you’ll see that Rutgers is listed as the assignee. Search industry angles? Hmm. Perhaps two indirect ones? One, the growing importance of speech and voice recognition technology as a tool to access information and two, one of the co-inventors listed on the patent, Tomasz Imielinski, is currently Vice President, Relevance and OnLine Systems at Ask.com.
