Over £400K in Grants Helps Preserve Endangered Archives (via BL)

Researchers throughout the world will benefit greatly from the Endangered Archives Programme, which in 2006 awarded grants of over £470,000 through sponsorship by the Lisbet Rausing Charitable Fund. This second round of funding by the Programme will cover 19 projects, preserving photographic archives, Islamic manuscripts, endangered musical collections and endangered court records from Africa, Asia, Russia, Latin America and Europe.

Collections of the Month, September 2006: Edge of Darkness: Critical

This month sees the 25th anniversary of the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp, and also the 50th anniversary of the British atom bomb tests at Maralinga, Australia.

The Archives Hub is highlighting the papers of scientists, politicians and campaigners, as well as the records of organisations, who have sought to limit or end the use of nuclear weapons, have been opposed to nuclear power, or have investigated alternative sources of energy.
