New Search Tools: TalkDigger

Talk Digger (Beta)
This new beta version of the service debuted on Thursday. We haven’t had much time to take a look and explore. In other words, is it worth a look? Can’t comment, but it will be a search tool we’ll try to spend some time with over the weekend and if not, once the holiday weekend is over. One thing that struck me is how useful a service like this might be for the media (assuming it’s tracking a large amount and wide variety of conversations and topics.

In a nutshell:
Talk Digger
+ Tracks conversations on the web and the pages that link to them
+ Discover conversations
+ Join conversations
+ Find people, grow your social network
+ Search by conversations, tags, URL’s, comments, users
+ The three scenario presentations are worthwhile. 1 ||| 2 ||| 3
+ Advanced interface allows for tracking conversations and comments. Also limit to a geographic area.
+ Ads by Google
+ Where does the content come from?
blogpulse
blogdigger
google
googleblog
bloglines
feedster
yahoo
msnsearch
digg
technorati

As I said, little time at the moment to spend the time needed to really get into the site. Two things I quickly noticed::
1) Needs more data
2) Needs a cleaner crawl. I came across what appeared to be lots of spam.
3) Here’s a search and results page for conversations about iPods.
