Mobile Beat: TV Listings (U.S.) For Mobile From TV Guide and UGuide; New SMS Search Tool

+ First, Katie Fehrenbacher writes about how one of our favorite mobile sites, 4info.net, will be adding listings from TV Guide. (via GigaOm)

+ Second, don’t forget that TV Guide also offers a mobile version that’s live now but not dishing out listings at http://wireless.tvguide.com
NOTE: As of 8/23, 4pm EDST, the site is working but not showing listings. We’ve asked TV Guide for help.

+ Blackberry, Palm, Pocket PC and Windows Mobile users can try a cool product (fee-based) from Handmark that offers TV Guide listings and more. More here, 2 week free trial available.

+ Finally, have a SmartPhone? Then you might want to register to be a beta tester for a tv listings product (beta) for mobile devices from Gist called UGuide. Works on most Java phones and Treos. If you have a PC running Microsoft Windows XP Media Center (2005) you can also use your phone to program your PVR with UGuide.

and on SMS search:

GigaOm also has a post introducing a new SMS search tool named TextMarks that will compete with 4info.net (actually, they offer several versions of their service) Yahoo, Google, 411Sync, Synfonic, UpSnap, and others like MSN Autos and Traffic.com (both offer extremely localized traffic reports via SMS) and Smarter.com (price comparison via SMS).

UPDATE: Search Amazon.com via SMS with TicTap.
