From the Providence Business Journal article:
Location Inc., based in Woonsocket, R.I., has been awarded a patent for its NeighborhoodScout technology, an online search engine for home buyers and movers that matches the home buyer with just the right neighborhood — and maybe even the right house — based on the buyer’s customized requests. The award comes on the heels of Location Inc. bringing Internet heavy hitter Barry Glick, founder and former chief executive of MapQuest.com, to its team.
NeighborhoodScout [fee-based] — delivered through the site www.neighborhoodscout.com — uses several algorithms to provide users with results based on specific criteria.
For example, if a user is searching for a home in a specific price range within five miles of Boston and with the highest appreciation rates, NeighborhoodScout will map the results so that users will know exactly where to look.
