Cataloging: Summer 2006 Issue of LC Cataloging Service Bulletin Now Available

Cataloging Service Bulletin (Number 112, Summer 2006)
108 pages; PDF.

Cataloging and making information easily retrieviable is not as easy as it may look (understatement). Those of you who are not catalogers and might be interested in learning a bit more might want to look at the lists of revised and “current interest” Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) beginning on page 100 of this newsletter. It’s very interesting to see what something is called, how it can change over time, and how the process is organized. You can also review new lists each week by selecting the links at the bottom of this page. You’ll find Weekly Lists for both LCSH and Library of Congress Classification (LCC). Remember, LCSH and LCC are two completely different systems. Here are the most recent update lists for LCSH and LCCC. Btw, libraries that use Dewey Decimal Classification also (in most cases) also utilize LCSH.
