Forget Static Street Level Imagery, Check out What Immersive Media is Building: 360-degree views of Surroundings
Sure, Pages Jaunes (cities in France and Spain), A9, and now MSN Live Local all offer very cool street-level imagery for various places but check out what Canada’s Immersive Media is doing for 25 U.S. cities. Hal Reid from Directions Magazine does a great job summarizing. He writes, “[Immersive Media] involves 11 cameras taking 360 degree imagery in real time, all merged into a single image. The imagery is geo-referenced; you can measure how big or how far apart things are. If you are doing anything related to real estate, city planning, etc., you need to see this.” ResourceShelf agrees. They call it (your new word for the day) their technology Telemmersion. Demo here.
