WHOIS Lookup Service WHOIS.sc Becomes DomainTools.com
One of ResourceShelf’s favorite WHOIS domain name resources has changed its name and has a new look. Result pages are full of data. Also, all of the inexpensive ($15/month) but powerful services like historical WHOIS info (back to 2002) and the Mark Alert domain name tracking service are available. Limited access to both of these services is available at no charge. You will need to register. DomainTools.com also offers a bunch of free network services (Traceroute, Ping, DNS, Reverse IP). They also offer a new feature, “Name Server Spy” that monitors and graphs domains transfered, added, and deleted over time. Over 4 years’ worth of data available.

New, 2005 IC3 Annual Report
“The 2005 Internet Crime Report is the fifth annual compilation of information on complaints received and referred by the IC3 to law enforcement or regulatory agencies for appropriate action. From January 1, 2005 — December 31, 2005, the IC3 website received 231,493 complaint submissions. This is an 11.6% increase over 2004 when 207,449 complaints were received. These filings were composed of fraudulent and non-fraudulent complaints primarily related to the Internet.”

World-wide quality of living survey
“Zurich ranks as the world’s top city for quality of living, according to a survey by Mercer Human Resource Consulting. The city scores 108.2 and is only marginally ahead of Geneva, which scores 108.1, while Vancouver follows in third place with a score of 107.7. In contrast, Baghdad is the lowest ranking city in the survey, scoring just 14.5.”
