First Edition of Geoffrey Chaucer’s “Canterbury Tales” Set For Digitization
From the article, “The first edition of Geoffrey Chaucer’s “Canterbury Tales”, worth 4.6 million pounds, has been hauled from the British Library vaults to be digitised and put online. Technicians sporting satellite-strength cameras began photographing the rare 15th century tome in a windowless room in London on Monday. Their 1,300 high-resolution images will then be put on the Internet. The British Library has already digitised two copies of the Gutenberg bible, printed in 1455 and available on the Internet at http://prodigi.bl.uk/gutenbg/default.asp.
